E-portfolio MADNESS

MUAHAHAHA
-that is the expression I want to have right now, but it unfortuantly is not.
As the deadline for the e-portfolio project nears. I still havent solved the big issue. HOW? I have the materials set. EVerything is ready to go, but I do not have the correct resources for a website. I need to find a computer savy person to help me create a website like the one I want. My worst case scenerio would be a blog, but right now I am experimenting with Geo cities. Geocities is interesting. THe funny thing is that for now it s almost like an ordinary blog. I M NOT COMPUTER SAVY ENOUGHT TO IT THAT WAY! It s funny because I am considered to be very computer savy but this is an issue where I have no experience in. Although I have helped create many websites before, I was never the one CREATING. I was the one bringing the resources and stuff in it. THis is very ANNOYING! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Atleast this will be a new learning experience for me.
Right now, I want to "OWN" this project. I want to be the one, that people who will take the class next year will say "WOw that is a nice e-portfolio, I want to do something like that", or even better but maybe meaner "Damn this guys e-portfolio is soo good, I'm so failing this class".
But those are far out aspirations. I first need to find a good website or consult someone to achieve this dream, and maybe I will be the one saying MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

E-portfolios new?

Now that I have a full understanding about what the e-portfolio, I began to wonder "Is this really a new thing." The term e-portfolio could be attached to many personal websites. The only thing is that they have not yet been qualified is a e-portfolios. This finding struck me with exteme happiness. Finally, the e-portfolio seemed sooo much less complicated than what I had imagined it to be. For example, take a website a biographical website about someone and THAT IS AN E-PORTFOLIO! Haha, it's amazing how simplistic the term e-potfolio is when just a few weeks ago it seemed like an impossible feet in which I was going to need extreme concentration to understand.
My own e-portfolio will be a summary of the work I have done in the past 6 month. It will hopefully be an enjoyable read because I will include some of the videos and football games I have participated in the last six month.
What I will probably do is I am going to buy a website and insert a ton of subtopics.
SO far my subtopics are...
1. Class time
A. Calc
B. English
C. Biology
D. Political Science
E. Chemistry
2. Leisure Time
A. Youtube Videos (that i am in)
B. Football Games ( just pix and game summaries)

All of the sudden I am extremly excited to do the e-portfolios!

California in Education

Isn't it so weird how California is 48th in Education for elementry through high school in the United States. That means those "ignorant" southern states have better schools than us, yet we are the richest, most buisiness qualitifed state and we include some of the best Univercities in all of America.
Here is my theory on why we suck so much.
BEcause of the population in the state and the high attendance of students in schools the state must have to be ranked lower. I believe that most probably the percentage of kids going to schools is higher than alot of states. Also the population issue presents a problem in the fact that there are bigger classrooms. If there were more smaller classroom of maybe 10-15 students, then the ranking in education would increase dramatically. However, when we have some 30 about average in every class, that totally makes it harder on the teacher to teach every student. This year I was a babysitter/teacher for two grades. A third grade classroom in which the class held 34 students and a fourth grade classroom where the class held eight students. The fourth grade class was much more engaged and payed so much more attention to the subject.
I think the key for California s climb to the top of education will be to attain more teachers making the class average to fifteen students per class.

Community College vs High School

Community College...and high school... both are extremly different, yet they have incredible similarities. The difficulty level in community college is much greater than in High School. However, the motivation in community college to do well is also much greater because there is no plan B. In communty college one must do well to get to his disired goal. Also, no one in a community college is being forced togo to school, therefore the learning environment is much stronger because everybody wants to learn. High school however is alot more laid back and easy. If one is committed one can easily get a 4.0 because of the simple fact that homework is a large portion of the grade, and there alot more "easy points". In community college one has to be not only committed, but also be a good test taker because of the simple fact that exams can sometimes account for nearly nintey percent of the grade. Teachers in high school are also more personal with you. They tend to care alot more about your well doing in a class. If a teacher realises commitment, second chances are oftenly granted, but in community college it depends on the proffessor. Some proffessors teach as many students as the whole entire population of an average high school. What would make them care about you so much?
Overall, high school and community colleges both have their advantages. With effort and committment anyone can excell in either.
Which one do you think is better?

Read The Directions!!!

Uh Oh. Here comes that feeling that says "Damn... I should have read the stupid directions." Last week I had written a blog post for my English class that I thought would give me an easy five points. Right after I finnished my post I thought to myself, "Does this comply with the directions for this assignment?" Then I said Oh well and did nothing about it.
End Result: Zero Points
Elementry Schools should put more emphasis on students reading the directions of the assignments handed down to them. I can't tell you how many times I ve written, or read a good paper that ended up recieving a terrible grade because it does not answer "the directions".
I believe the most effective way to build a students "Directions Learning". Is the test that some teachers give in High School. The test consists of about twenty short answer questions. On the top of the page, it is very clearly stated to read all the questions on the test before answering any of them. When you reach the last question the test states " Put your name on top of the page and do not answer any questions." However, if you answer any of the questions you get graded on all the question given during the test. The only flaw with this method is that this test is given in High School. This test should be given at a younger age where it remains engraved in the students head.

Jim

A few month ago one of my good friends told me he was gay. At first I was shocked. Thoughts were racing through my mind like a gazelle running away from the on coming predator. "What!? No..... he must be playing a joke, but Jim is perfectly normal." After some utter moments of silence I smile and tell him "Haha you're joking right." As serious as a judge convicting his own brother, Jim replies and says, "No."
Again thought start running through my head. I can't believe it. Jim! The very same Jim I had talked to all the time about girls, and the very same one whom I would feel comfortable making gay jokes to was gay. Then the inevitable question came to my head, and it apparently came to his head also. Jim then asked, "Um so, are we still friends." It took me 2 seconds two answer, but those two seconds seemed like two centuries, and then the thought came to my head. This is Jim. The very same Jim that was your friend for the past two years. Are you going to let this small issue hinder your friendship? I then reply, "Ofcourse, you're my friend."
Somehow in Catfish and Mandala, I wonder what Andrew was thinking when he found out the truth about his sister. Did he actually accept her for who she is? Or did he seem to ignore the fact that this was his sister. The same sister that has been with him through the thick and the rough.
*The name Jim was used because I had promised "Jim" not to tell anyone.

World Change

I was sitting there thinking about how the world has changed in the last twenty years. Can you imagine a world with no computers, and no cell phones.
That's kinda scary, but what I realise is that maybe if these things were never invented, then maybe our social lives would be much better. Don't these no "inventions" discourage us to go and meet. Instead of taking the hassle to go meet and talk, now we just talk online or on our cell phones.
Just a thought...
